In a survey of small business owners in the UK, most are optimistic about their business outlook in 2014. Thirty-four percent of UK SMEs said that growth was their most critical goal this year. However, many UK small businesses have a difficult time accessing growth capital and are turning to small business loans from Boost Capital to finance their expansion.
The design is very colorful and provides a thorough description of what UK SMEs are experiencing for 2014. It does a pretty good job of keeping text light and informative throughout.
One design issue with it is the varying typefaces. They don’t seem to sit well together and there isn’t quite a theme to which typefaces appear where. And while the “Cause for Optimism” section does a good job of separating itself out with color blocks, the sections to follow all sort of flow into one another without distinct breaks — the stats with the thumbs-up and thumbs-down, in fact, don’t even have a section header.
Additionally, I feel the section with all the circle graphs could be spruced up a bit more to avoid monotony.
In all I’d give this infographic a C, as it could use some more thought regarding aesthetic and layout in order to present a cohesive and easy-to-follow design. However, as mentioned it does provide some great insight into the thoughts of UK SMEs!
