High Polyphenol Foods with Their Carb Content
Plants contain strong antioxidants known as polyphenols.
Free radicals are produced when our cells engage in the oxidation process.
The free radicals damage cells and DNA by causing oxidative stress. The amount of oxidative stress correlates with age-related diseases such as neurodegenerative, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
A useful property of polyphenols is that they decrease oxidative stress by neutralizing oxidation. A well-known polyphenol from grapes called resveratrol is believed to reduce the risk of heart disease.
AuthorityDiet.com created an infographic which lists 20 high polyphenol foods as well as their carbohydrate content, perfect for those wanting to restrict their carbohydrate intake.
Visual Communication - 70%
Design - 65%
Content/Script - 85%
Usability - 85%
This infographic uses photos of foods to help viewers quickly process the list of low-carb high-polyphenol foods. It's relatively light in text which helps with usability. A few modifications could improve usability even more: alphabetizing the list or grouping by category (herb, fruit, vegetable), and color-coding the backgrounds based on category or polyphenol content. These modifications would also require a layout change, but it would help viewers anticipate what would be in each portion of the list and how to quickly check if a specific food they had in mind was on the list. A concluding statement would also help round out the narrative. In all we'd give this a C+.
