North America is experiencing a manufacturing renaissance and employers are hiring more than ever before. But many positions remain unfilled and this gap will only grow over time as more baby boomers retire. To counter this trend, we wanted to create an infographic targeted towards young people debunking common myths about manufacturing jobs.
We chose a fun design complete with lots of icons and a modular approach that resembles the factory floor. It flows much like a conveyor belt. For the colours, we wanted to stick with George Brown’s strong identity and have a colour scheme that would match their logo as well as. The end result is an infographic that both entertains and informs.

This infographic does a great job immediately communicating its topic visually, without the viewer having to read a word. We can immediately tell that the topic has to do with manufacturing, and that many such jobs are technically advanced and challenging (as is apparent with the combination of computers and specialized factory equipment in the header). The illustration style is engaging for the viewer and makes him or her want to learn more, and it remains consistent throughout, except for the fact that the header image seems a flatter style than the more three-dimensional illustrations under each myth. This infographic contains a lot of little-known and interesting information and is therefore useful and educational for the reader. However, as far as content goes, it's a little heavy on text and misses several opportunities to visualize the data that is included. Overall, we'd give this infographic a B+.
