This infographic comes to us from IRIS.co.uk and covers the 10 most common payroll mistakes that offices make. Upon submitting the infographic, IRIS said the following:

An infographic highlighting the ten most common mistakes in payroll, featuring the consequences as reflected in an office environment and the ways in which they can be resolved. Sources are SurePayroll, AllBusiness, IRIS and Intuit.

All told, this isn’t that great of an infographic. In fact, it’s not really an infographic at all. It’s more like a diagram. It doesn’t include any comparative stats or figures, and relies on the background image to support the information (much like a diagram does). The design is sub par, and it doesn’t seem like something that people would want to share around the web. That said, it does provide interesting points of information, so I wish it were designed differently to ensure people would share it.

Infographics are designed for a variety of reasons which include brand building, providing awareness on a topic, and building inbound links to a site. While link building can often be a primary reason for creating infographics, it shouldn’t be the only reason, as not many people will want to link to someone who has produced content only for the link… since this is considered spam. That said, this infographic doesn’t come across as something meant for linkbait, which is the one thing it had going for it. Of course, when I went to download the image onto my computer, I looked at it’s original name: iris-linkbait_670x482.jpg. Yup, the infographic has linkbait in the name. Word to the wise, don’t name your infographic “linkbait” because that’s one huge turnoff.
