This infographic was submitted to us by the good people at Push Science. It’s a holiday shopping survival guide done in the style of the many zombie survival guides out there.

The idea behind this infographic is unique, creative, and appropriate. Even though a large chunk of holiday shopping can now be done online, it is no joke that many last-minute holiday shoppers flood the mall in hordes. This infographic provides strategies for getting through the gauntlet and getting your shopping done.

I really like the illustrations for this infographic. They do a surprisingly good job of combing the zombie and holiday themes in a nice way. I appreciate that the zombie images are comical and scary without being gross as well.

Unlike a lot of “guide” or list-type infographics, this infographic does a fantastic job of following the data-viz rule: where there is data, it is visualized appropriately and simply. There may be quite a bit of copy, but it is not used to replace data visualization and it is critical to driving the infographic’s story.

Overall, this is a fantastic infographic that will hopefully get a lot of love this holiday season. Be sure to visit the link to this infographic. When you hover over the elements, there are some fun animations that really add to it. All things considered, I’m giving this infographic an A-.

or not, this is the month that many start their Christmas shopping. A leading UK
department store started their Christmas display back in July. All these facts and more
like the average amount spent per person each Christmas and the value of unwanted gifts
each year in the UK.”

I see a lot of positive elements in this infographic. Not only does it have some really intriguing facts, but it also has some nice data visualization. I particularly enjoy the graphics used for the statistic about the most popular day and time to shop online at work. One thing I would change about this graphic is how the sources are cited throughout. It would make a more cohesive design if the sources were left to be cited at the very end.

Also, the data about online shopping vs. attending church is visualized very nicely in this infographic. It also very data-driven and would make more sense than many if all the text was removed. The infographic has a cohesive design throughout, but the source icons take away from it and make it more confusing than it should be. Like I mentioned earlier, if all the sources were just cited at the bottom of the infographic, then it would be much more aesthetically pleasing.

As far as a letter grade, it would receive a B- from me. The data visualization, though better than many, could use some improvement. An infographic should still make sense when all text is removed and this one would fail to do that in several places. However, it has a nice layout and tells a story from start to finish, stating many interesting and relevant facts.

This infographic comes to us from ZippyCart.com, a site that helps retailers find the best ecommerce software to power their online store. The infographic delves into the details behind holiday shopping online, showing how online shopping has risen in popularity over the years and is most active during the holiday shopping season.

For some consumers, the holiday shopping season has already begun, but most consumers will wait until Black Friday to really start shopping. Many people take to the Internet to find the best deals, avoid long lines, and get free shipping. This is a great way to shop when you will be traveling for the holidays, as free shipping (with gift wrapping) lets you ship the gifts rather than carting them around on a plane. And speaking as someone who has had $1000 worth of Christmas gifts get lost with my luggage one year, online shopping with free shipping is the only way to enjoy the holidays without the stress.

All in all, this is a pretty good infographic with a lot of data. What I really enjoy about ZippyCart infographics is the way they always include their website URL as well as their logo, which is a guy they call Zippy (he’s the red guy dressed up as Santa). They make the logo fit with the infographic rather than just throwing it into the infographic and hoping people notice. Their logo is usually orange, which would not have worked with this infographic at all, so their choice to dress Zippy up as Santa was a smart move that keeps their brand in the infographic without throwing their logo in your face.
