Today brings with it another infographic from HealthEdSolutions.com, which is better than yesterday’s infographic as this one is more of an infographic and less of an article/list. Upon submitting this infographic, HealthEdSolutions said:

All in all, this infographic is OK, but it needs more information. The bar for infographics has been set pretty high and at this point just two data sets don’t work. An infographic should have more than just maps. Stats about how many Paramedics there are in the US, how many hours they work each week, average cost of education, etc. would really help fill this infographic out.

This infographic comes to us from HealthEdSolutions.com and is the first of 2 submissions they sent our way last week. Upon submission, they said the following:

When an individual suffers from ventricular fibrillation – an irregular and life-threatening heart rhythm that negatively impacts circulation – immediate CPR and defibrillation can save his or her life.

Defibrillation is an electrical shock to the chest that stuns the heart; it’s most commonly delivered through an AED (automatic external defibrillator), a small, portable device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, directs the rescuer to deliver an electrical shock to the heart of someone suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. The AED, if properly used, should stimulate regular circulation and blood flow in a patient.

However, what do you do in a medical emergency if you can’t easily use an AED?

Health Education Solutions, the leading provider of continuing education solutions for first responders and healthcare professionals, recently released this infographic illustrating solutions to some of the most common Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Challenges.

Overall, this isn’t really an infographic… it’s more of an article with a picture on top. An infographic uses design and images to display data and information… the text should be a second thought, or maybe even not allowed at all. In this “infographic,” text drives the entire piece and the images only compliment the text. It’s unfortunate as there are many great ways to display this data, but this just wasn’t one of them.
