This infographic is one that we designed on behalf of MPH Degree Programs.com comparing public and private healthcare around the world in the US as well as other industrialized nations. Here are some interesting statistics from the infographic:

• In 2007, the average cost of healthcare per person in the US was twice that of many other industrialized nations.
• Although Switzerland’s government contribution to healthcare is less than half that of the US, Americans still pay 1.5 times more for healthcare than the Swiss.
• The cost of an MRI in the US is 15 times the cost of an MRI in Japan.
• The US spends 4 times as much as other countries on administrative costs

This infographic comes to us from a designer named Lawrence Johnson and looks like it’s straight out of a magazine. Upon submitting the infographic, Lawrence had the following to say:

Once you take into account the time value of training, the financial investment and the professional exigencies of the various health care support occupations, medical transcriptions still holds its own as a financially rewarding profession. This chart illustrates that medical transcriptionists have seen their wages grow by close to 3% and ranks higher than many other health technical positions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an 11% growth rate in the medical transcription field between 2008 and 2018, and recommends certification to increase employment opportunities.

I’ll be honest, I don’t usually like infographics that have just one aspect of data visualization, but this is pretty fun to look at and the shadowing is great! My main issue with this infographic is that the largest version is still too small to read. I know that this is how things go with Flickr and assume there’s probably a much larger version of this, or it was made for print. That said, hopefully a larger version will be available soon.

This fun video infographic from GE Healthcare is used to promote their brand, while taking a deeper look at a number of stats within the healthcare industry.
