This offers a simple representation of how to visualize survey results. There’s not much text, so it’s quick to get through, and the results are clearly displayed.

What this infographic is missing is unique visual appeal. Between a white background, familiar fonts, and basic data viz, there’s not a lot that is particularly eye-catching about it. Except for the car pictures, everything is very flat. It would benefit from some dimension and some individuality. Go out of the box with the visualizations, and try something new!

Also, be sure to include info that works for your message — but you may want to downplay what doesn’t. For example, the stat that 23% of Honda owners feel more attractive in their cars… for me, is largely overshadowed by the inclusion of the comparatively huge “Has No Effect” bar. By just omitting that bar, you’re not misrepresenting anything, because you aren’t changing any of the numbers. What you are doing, though, is making the difference between the positive stat and the negative stat look more significant by eliminating the neutral stat. Overwhelmingly, Honda owners don’t think their car impacts their attractiveness, but that’s not the story the infographic really wants to tell!

Same goes for the words used to describe the Honda. I’d likely just include the #1 word, “Reliable,” because it’s such an overwhelming victory. As a standalone stat, “65% of surveyed Honda owners would describe their car as ‘reliable’” sounds more appealing than when you notice that apparently less than 5% think their car is smartly designed. Ouch!

In all, I’d give this infographic a C. It paints a picture of Honda owners, but it’s not very selective in what information it includes, and it doesn’t really draw the reader in visually.

There’s plenty of data viz here, which is great to see. The color palette and aesthetic stay consistent throughout, and the organization is easy to follow. A solid black background is a little aggressive, so I might suggest toning it to a dark grey or patterned background. All-white backgrounds are typically discouraged because they may just run into the background of many websites — it’s also a possibility for black backgrounds, too.

The only exception I see to the organization thing is the number of wireless devices to US residents placed in the Blending Work and Play section. It doesn’t seem quite at home there. Maybe it would work best in an intro section about device use, showing how many people also have tablets, laptops, etc.

I’d love to see some illustrations introduced beyond the basic iconography — though I do like the styles of some of the charts shown, as an alternative to the basic bar graphs and pie charts.

In all I’d give this infographic a B. It’s got a good amount of data and data viz, but there’s nothing particularly outstanding about the design: a bit of a facelift would help it stand out.

The design here is pretty busy, but the illustrations are great and the style is clean overall. It just looks a bit crowded between the illustrations, the icons, the data viz and the text! Still, the info is really useful for skiers with the travel bug, and seems like it could really help them pick their favorite destinations — especially with the circle graphs showing the ratio of available courses for each skill level. Then it just comes down to where they can get some cheap flights to and from their ski adventures!

I also love the visualizations for distance from the airport and elevation. Creative data viz goes a long way in making an impression in the infographics world. However, it does make the final section pretty off-putting in comparison. A large texty chart doesn’t look like something you want to read after coming across engaging charts and graphs. With a little more time and space, more data viz could be employed for the remaining sections. It also seems you don’t need the Mountain Elevations, Resort Elevation, or Cost of Stay Indicator in that bottom chart, since they are already conveyed in the first section — so that would eliminate a lot of the bulk!

In all I’m a fan of this IG, so I’d love to see the bottom chart slimmed down so that it can finish with the same “bang” with which it starts!
