This infographic on blood donation facts comes to us from the folks at Emergency Planning Experts.com. Here is what they had to say about their infographic upon submitting it to us:
The need for blood donations is always great, but that need rises after natural disasters and in the summer months when accidents are more frequent and donations sparser. We strove to create a visual representation of the need for blood and the lives saved by a single donation or person. If even just one person donates blood as a result of seeing it, the infographic will have done its job!
This is a decent infographic with a lot of great information, but it could use a few tweaks. I really like the section on blood types – it’s a neat, creative way to explain that information without making it too complicated. The rest of the infographic could use a lot more data visualization though. A good rule of thumb for infographics is that if you can remove all of the text and it still makes sense, you’re in a good spot. Such is not the case for this IG. The imagery works well to enhance the data, but there are a lot of areas opportunities for visualization that right now just rely on typography. Virtually every section could be fixed in this way.
Finally, while I like the overall design of the infographic, the font for the headings is not very good. I think that a serif font or something more similar to the rest of the infographic would look better – the current one just looks too cartoon-y.1
