This infographic comes to us from the people at Adzuna.

I really like the artistic style of this; the illustrations that look like sketches on graph paper are cool. The actual graphs that are “sketched” on this look especially good.

I give this infographic a B overall. In some places it has really good data visualization, but in other spots a lot of the information is in text. I like the bar graph at the bottom comparing average salaries for new vs. experienced developers: this part has pretty good data visualization and doesn’t use a lot of text to present the data. The other line graph could be improved if it used logos of the different developing styles to mark points on the line. Also, the statistic next to the line graph about the demand for Android experience could use some graphics to represent the data more visually. The statistic above it about iOS is good because it has the actual iOS logo next to the salary figure.

I like the startups vs. banks section; the use of colors here is a good way to create data visualization. The wallet graphic is an easy-to-understand visual way to represent the average salary data. The top portion of this infographic also has good data visualization. The little nerdy characters lined up to visually show the number of computer science graduates vs. the number of computer science graduate jobs is a really nice touch. Also, the shaded-in UK visually tells readers that the data in this infographic will be about tech jobs in the UK.

Overall I really like the artistic style of this infographic and it kept me interested. There are some strong spots when it comes to data visualization and a few spots that could use some additional graphics and illustrations to bring it to life a little bit more. A few minor improvements would really make this a top-notch infographic.

This Halloween-themed infographic about social media comes to us from the people at Shoutlet.

I really like the spooky theme and overall design of this infographic. It is a great creative way to look at social media at this time of year and tie it in with what people think is scary about using social media.

The grade that I give this as an infographic is a C- because it is very text heavy and readers have to get most of the information from reading. Because of all the text there is not a whole lot of data visualization present in this. It looks really nice and there are some cool graphics that go with the theme but they do not help to present the data in a visual way. For example, the section with the crows on a wire and all the speech bubbles looks really good, but every piece of information is in the text.

It would add a lot if there were graphics to go with the data that is in text. One area that could be improved easily is the section about what the worst spooky character at social media would be. The addition of an illustration of each type of spooky creature would add some visualization to go with the percentages. The same goes for the section about what horror movie social media is most like; pictures of the movie villains or characters would add some visualization.

I do really like the humor and the theme of this infographic. It takes some serious data and some not-so-serious data and mixes it together in a creative and interesting way. With some additional graphics and less text the data visualization would be improved a lot and I could give this a higher grade.

This infographic about different styles of startups and entrepreneurs comes to us from the folks at Bayan.

I really like the overall design and the humor in this. The little characters representing different types of entrepreneurs were funny and informative.

Overall I give this a B- because there are a few places where it is lacking in data visualization, but there are also a lot of really good things about it. As I already mentioned, the cartoony characters are a really nice touch that grabbed my attention, and I could easily tell from how they were dressed and accessorized what style of entrepreneurs they are. I can definitely see each of these entrepreneur styles in real life. I also like the little map of the United States that highlights the most startup-friendly states; this is a good way to create data visualization without needing to read any text.

One spot where I think this infographic could be improved is the bottom section with statistics and percentages. I would like to see some graphics added to this section that more visually represent the data. For example a picture of a degree with an “x” over it could be used for the statistic that 65 percent of startup entrepreneurs don’t have a degree. Another example is the statistic about age could have a picture of a young man and an old man to visually represent the difference in average age of entrepreneurs.

In general I really like this infographic and found it very entertaining and informative. It is a little text heavy in areas and could add a few graphics to create more data visualization in those areas. The cartoon entrepreneurs really made this infographic work for me though and I would definitely give it a higher grade if a few minor changes and additions were made.

This infographic about the top 10 U.S. universities comes to us from the people at Best Essays.

I like the straightforward layout of this infographic; it is easy to get the information and compare the universities.

Overall I give this an A-. I like the map at the beginning that shows the locations of the top 10 universities. The tuition and fees comparison chart that comes next is also nice because the reader can instantly see how all the universities compare in cost. One suggestion I have to improve the comparison chart is to arrange the bars from highest to lowest so it is easy to see how the universities rank without looking back and forth so much.

I like how the next section of this infographic is set up. Each university has the same statistics and data so that readers can compare easily. There is some pretty good data visualization here. For example, showing the ratio of male to female students with colors corresponding to the little stick figures is a nice touch. The charts comparing popular majors also add some good data visualization to this. One suggestion I have is to replace some of the text about when the universities were founded and how many undergraduates there are with graphics. It would be easy to just put a picture of a university being built with the year next to it and a picture of some students with the number of undergrads next to it.

This is a straightforward and informative infographic with pretty good data visualization. It is easy for readers to get the information that they are looking for without reading through tons of text. It could use a few small changes and some additional graphics but other than that it is nicely put together.

This infographic about playground dangers comes to us from the folks at Lyslaw.

I like the overall design and color scheme of this infographic. The colors and images work well with the topic and it is not too cluttered or text heavy.

Overall I give this a C-, mainly because, although there is a good balance between text and graphics, the images used don’t really represent data visually in most cases. For example, a picture of some monkey bars doesn’t show me that 67 percent of reported playground injuries involve falls or equipment failure. This would be better represented if there was an illustration of a kid falling off of the monkey bars or one of them breaking. Another example is the dog toy doesn’t show me that 20 percent of playground injuries are not recorded. Basically the images need to more directly represent the statistics that the text provides in this infographic in order to create more data visualization. The pictures look nice and are all playground related, but they just don’t add much to the information.

I would suggest that every picture on this gets changed or replaced to reflect the statistics. The big pink playground set is supposed to reflect the fact that 8 percent of reported incidents involve hazards around the equipment but not the equipment itself, so there should be a picture of something other than a playground set, like maybe a kid running into a tree or something. I could make suggestions for each one of the statistics, but you get the point.

This looks nice and held my attention and I was glad that I didn’t have to read a lot, but in order for me to give it a higher grade, the graphics need to be more linked with the data to create more data visualization and tell the story that this infographic is trying to get across.

This infographic about the dangers of teen driving comes to us from the folks at Lyslaw.

I really like the top half of this infographic. It shows the top ten driving distractions as if the viewer is sitting in the front seat of a car. I think this is a really creative way to do this on an infographic; it grabs the reader’s attention and keeps things interesting.

I give this an overall grade of C+. The bottom half of this could use a lot more data visualization, because as it is there is mainly text describing all of the data. For example, the statistic that 56 percent of drivers make or answer phone calls while driving could have a picture of someone talking into a phone to represent this statistic more visually, even without actual data viz. All of the other statistics on that list could do something along the same lines. I do like the 12.6 little silhouettes that are shaded in to show that teens are responsible for 12.6 percent of fatal crashes.

The top illustration is really nice, with lines leading from items and areas of the car to point out the top ten driving distractions. It is clear from what the lines are pointing to what the major distractions both in and outside the car are. I have just a couple minor suggestions for this area of the infographic. There are some distractions on the list that don’t have anything to represent them in the illustration; I would suggest adding something like a question mark next to the unknown distractions caption. Another small suggestion I have is to make the yellow lines bolder or somehow stand out more because there are a few spots in the picture where they blend in with the background.

I really like the creativity of this infographic and it has some good data visualization. It could just use a few additions to certain aspects of it and I would give this a B.

This infographic comes to us from MAT@USC.

This is an awesome infographic that not only looks great but has a very good balance between text and data viz. There is a lot of creativity in this that I really appreciate and that works well with the topic of childhood obesity.

I give this an A because of the good data visualization and the story that it tells. It held my attention and there are too many good elements of it for me to list all the ones that I like, so I’ll cover some of my favorites. To start off, I really like the pie charts at the beginning that are made out of… pie! The next graphic, showing one in five infants drink soda, is nice too, because the contrast between baby bottles and the soda bottle is easy to understand. A couple more good elements are the ten forks with broccoli on three to show the number of high schoolers who eat vegetables daily and the three sports balls with one video game controller showing that one out of four kids doesn’t participate in any kind of physical activity.

There are a few places where the graphics don’t tell the whole story that the text is telling. For example, the vending machine section could be improved by having some sort of image representing each level of school that the data refers to. Also the statistic that two out of three high schoolers drink some sort of sweetened beverage every day could be more visually represented by putting, say, one water bottle next to two sports drink bottles.

Overall, this is a great infographic that really tells a story about childhood obesity. The design and graphics look good and are perfect for the topic. A few minor improvements and this would get an A+!

This infographic comes to us from the people at ClickScape.

This looks nice and has some good information, and the overall design and color scheme is put together well. Although this looks nice, there is basically nothing about this that qualifies it as an infographic, so I give it a D-. There is no data visualization here. It is all text presented in colorful boxes that give the illusion of this being an infographic. The only part that has remotely any data visualization is the bar that shows a monthly payment breakdown. All I can suggest to improve this is to completely re-design it; as it is I would say it is about 50 percent of an infographic because the information is there, but the graphics are not.

The viewers of this have to read everything to get the data, and although the design is easy on the eye, none of the data is represented visually. A mortgage payment is a very technical topic for an infographic, so I realize it is hard to represent all of the data with graphics. But since there are lots of numbers and percentages involved, there could at least be some graphs or pie charts on here to compare some of the data visually. There should be some images to go along with captions, too. For example, there could be a picture of a house with a dollar sign on it next to the part that says “price of home”. The bottom part about PMI would be much more effective if the numbers were presented all together in a line graph, so that viewers could compare actual costs of a home for the different PMI percentages.

All in all this looks nice and has a lot of good information, but it needs a whole lot more data visualization to be considered a good infographic.

This infographic regarding the steps along the way to home ownership comes to us from the people at Clickscape.

I really like how this infographic is designed to look like a board game similar to Monopoly. The idea of having different squares along a game track works really well for the topic.

The big problem with this is that it is almost entirely text-based and there is very little data visualization, so I have to give it a D. The few graphics along the way do a nice job of representing the general stages in the home ownership process. For example, the guy in a suit at the beginning shows that getting an agent is one of the first steps, and the magnifying glass over a house towards the end does a nice job of representing that a home inspection is one of the later stages. However, all the steps along the way are just blocks of text with no graphics to visually represent them. Having specific pictures that pertain to the individual steps on the game board could do so much to improve this because the concept behind the design is really cool.

The idea of having a beginning and an end to this game board works nicely to demonstrate the process of acquiring a home, and with some changes and additions I think this could be a really great infographic. As it is, there is simply little to no data visualization to assist in telling the story that this infographic is trying to tell. Reduce the reliance on text and add images to represent each individual step along the way for an improved infographic. Overall the concept and design of this infographic is good and I would like to see it carried out to its full potential.

This infographic about the benefits of educational travel comes to us from the folks at Explorica.

I like the color scheme and design of this infographic and the simple graphics used. There is a good balance between text and graphics so it has pretty good data visualization.

Overall I give this a B because there are a few minor things that I would suggest changing or adding to improve it. One big general suggestion I have is to shrink this down and get rid of some of the unused space; at its current full size viewers have to scroll down a lot and there is plenty of empty space that could be put to use. Another suggestion I have is for the two statistics that are presented in pie chart-like form; the pictures that represent those two statistics don’t really tell the reader anything without the text so I suggest adding more relevant graphics or changing this somehow.

I do think the graphics for the other statistics work pretty well and give at least a good general idea about the statistics that the bars represent. I also like the bottom statistic about educational travel making people a better global citizen. The picture of a stick figure holding up a globe is a good representation of this. I think that the statistics that are just in clouds could be represented better visually in a way that is specific to each fact.

The overall appearance and balance between text and graphics on this infographic is nice. With a few minor adjustments the infographic could have much better data visualization and therefore be a better IG overall.
